laid-back oceanfront wedding filled with real emotion, packed dance floors, and a day that truly felt like them
Some weddings just stay with you, and this was one of them.
V + D’s day at Islander Resort felt easy in the best way. Nothing forced, nothing overdone. Just a full day of being surrounded by people who really love them, and you could feel that in every part of it. From the second I got there, it was one of those days where everything just clicked. The Islander Resort is one of my favorite venues in the Florida Keys for a reason. It has this balance of being beautiful but still relaxed. You have the ocean right there, palm trees everywhere, and space for everything to flow naturally. It never feels tight or rushed, which makes such a difference for how a wedding actually feels, not just how it looks.
V + D were so present the entire day. They weren’t worried about timelines or perfection, they were just in it. Laughing with their people, taking everything in, letting moments happen instead of trying to control them. That always shows up in the photos in a way you can’t fake. Their ceremony overlooking the water was simple and emotional in the way that matters. Nothing overcomplicated, just the two of them and everyone they love watching it all happen. And then the reception… one of those where people actually stay on the dance floor.
I don’t cry at every wedding, but their first dances got me. There was something about the way they looked at each other, and their families, that just felt really real. Not performative, not rushed, just a moment that meant a lot to them and everyone around them. Those are the kinds of things I notice when I’m shooting, the quiet shifts, the emotion that doesn’t need to be announced. This whole day felt like that. A lot of connection, a lot of energy, and nothing forced.
V + D, I loved being a part of this one. You made it so easy to document everything as it actually happened.
